Microsoft's license agreements with several Android vendors irritates Google. Google accused Microsoft of racketeering the vendor to support their unsuccessful smartphone, in this case Windows Phone.
Microsoft has just signed a licensing deal with Samsung, after previously with HTC, Acer, ViewSonic and others. Although Android is made by Google, several pattens are owned by Microsoft.
"This is the same tactic that we see carried on by Microsoft. Failing success in the smartphone market, they chose the legal measures to squeeze profit from the achievements of other Android vendors and impede innovation. We remain focused on building new technologies and support Android's partners," Google said.
Quoted from V3, this agreements make Microsoft gets paid for every Android handsets that are sold, reputedly the range USD 5 to USD 10. No wonder they got a huge amount of money from Android although not intervene directly in its development.
Realizing Android vulnerable to patent lawsuits, Google is in the process of acquiring Motorola's Mobility worth USD 12.5 billion. Dozens of thousands of patents in the field of mobile Motorola is expected to strengthen the position of Android.
